Título:

Climate mitigation is win-win for public health

Fecha:

25/05/2016

Palabras clave:

health, benefits, climate change

A new publication in German by HEAL aims to shed light on a neglected topic among the German public: this is how measures to tackle climate change such as cleaner energy, active transportation (walking and cycling) or changed food production and diets will also provide for significant co-benefits for people’s health (and the healthcare system). The target audience of the brochure are health and medical experts, practitioners, advocates who are looking for an introduction into the issue of climate change and health. Health benefits from climate measures in the areas of transport, energy, agriculture, and buildings are being presented. These benefits occur as climate measures also help to prevent chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and respiratory disease, diabetes (type 2) and cancer.
